Football at WBC

WBC has a long and happy history of being involved in football.

Our under 16s team is called the 'Westcliff Warriors' and play in the local Football League of Churches (otherwise known as FLOC).   We currently have 12 members on our books and we are working hard to become a good team.

Here is a photo of our team.  (The only one missing from the photo is Tom, who was away when the photo was taken).

Our league is made up by teams from different churches across the borough. Matches take place on Saturday mornings at the Chase School in Westcliff.  The league is busy and vibrant with all of the pitches beings used.   Lot's of encouragement is given by parents who like to watch the matches.  After the league games we meet for a while back at the WBC church for pizza, football training sessions and a chat.  It is really good to see  when the team finish their games that no one is miffed or cross.

If you would like to get involved or see what goes on, turn up at the Chase school at 10.00 a.m.

WBC Soccer School 2017

Having clocked up an impressive 20 years, the WBC Soccer School is over for another year. If you didn't already know, Soccer School is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 14 and is run during the week of the May Spring Bank Holiday.

Our senior coaches have FA qualifications and all have CRB's; our aims are to maintain high standards but provide a friendly and supportive environment to:

  • Improve football skills and sportsmanship
  • Introduce the local community to the church and the Christian faith through football
  • Provide good role models based on the example of Jesus
  • Build relationships with local families

We end the week with a presentation evening and the church is normally packed with children and their families. Many, many local families have enjoyed Soccer School over the years, so why not come and give it a try in 2018!
